Our Adoption Army

We have had so many people ask how our adoption is going. The conversation always goes about this same way:

Them: "So, any news on your adoption?"

Us: "No, not yet. We're still just waiting and trying to be in tune with what we need to do and when we need to do it."

Them: "Well, we are praying for you. Please let us know if we can do anything to help you find your baby!"

It is always so bolstering to know that people are actively praying for the growth of our family and want to help! But it's also just a little discouraging when we have nothing concrete to tell them. It's a weird time in the world, of course, and that makes it a weird time to be adopting, too. How do we get the word out and find our baby in a COVID world?? Last time we made pass-along cards that our friends could hand out to people who wanted our information, but that's not really an option this time around with social distancing in place. We've been sharing things on my Facebook page and we have this adoption blog and we're listed on's Parent Profiles, but with not much more that we can do, we have felt a little lost.

So we gave it some thought and came up with this crazy idea - we are going to create an army!

The South Family Adoption Army

We realized that we have an army, an amazing one! We are overwhelmed by the amount of love and support we have received in this adoption process. But we've never unified our army or given them a mission. The creation of this Army fixes that and gives us something tangible to focus on, and also gives our friends and family another way that they can help.

We are hoping to have at least 300 people enlist. We have created T-shirts that will give people a way to spread the word. Each Friday in October we'll have all of our recruits wear their T-shirts - we'll call it "Finding Friday" - and we'll ask them to take a picture of themselves wearing it and post it on their social media platforms with one (or all!) of these hashtags:
#southfamilyadoptionarmy #southbabybychristmas #makedanielabigbrother

Get a T-Shirt

We have also created a digital poster than can be downloaded until the T-shirts come in (or in lieu of the T-shirts) to be used on Finding Fridays or in any other way that could help spread the word! That artwork can be downloaded in the files section of our Facebook Group page.

If you want to join our army, here are a few things you can do:
  1. Follow us on our social media platforms:
    Facebook Group - @southfamilyadoptionarmy
    Instagram - @southfamilyadoptionarmy
  2. Get a T-shirt
  3. Share a picture of you with your T-shirt or poster on your social media every Friday in October along with this blog entry - and don't forget the hashtags!

We are so grateful for your continued love and concern! We look forward to seeing our amazing Adoption Army grow so that our family can, too!
